Located in the province of Padua, the commune counts about 10.000 inhabitants and rises \u00a0in the heart of Po Valley, on the border of the cities of Verona and Vicenza. Concerning the climate, the citadel enjoys a particular climate, with the temperature of 23\u00b0 in July, the hottest month of the year, whereas 5\u00b0 in the coldest one.<\/p>\n
Originally the territory of Montagnana could appear inhospitable, until a natural event that permanently changed the river Adige\u2019s path, eliminating the frequent floods which came year after year. Since then the citadel developed and now its economy is connected principally to the primary sector even if there are lots of handcraft activities and industries. Among the typical local products we mention furniture and the Venetian Berico-Euganeo Ham. The countless architectural beauties deserve a visit too.<\/p>\n
The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, for example, was built with a late Gothic style but it has some Renaissance additions; the city walls, one of the main attractions, is one of the best preserved \u00a0examples in Europe of medieval military architecture; and finally the \u201cPalio dei 10 Comuni del Montagnese\u201d (Palio of the 10 communes of Montagnese) it\u2019s the jewel of this citadel, an historical re-enactment of the liberation from the tyranny of Ezzelino III da Romano. It goes on stage every first sunday of September.<\/p>\n
