Designed by Andrea Palladio
Private residence and human heritage of UNESCO
The Villa is a private residence recorded in the list of the Human Heritage of UNESCO. It is open from April to October and it was designed by Andrea Palladio for Nicolò and Alvise Foscari, after his last trip to Rome in 1554.
The villa is symmetric and it is composed of 3 floors in order to distinguish ideally the functional activities, on the ground floor, from the “noble” ones, at the first floor, and the deposit ones of the agricultural produce upstairs. The frescoes respect this division, decorating walls and ceilings of the noble floor, whereas the furniture show the palladian conception, as the willing of the current owners, who tried to preserve, as it was possible, the furniture’s conception introduced in the 20ies and 30ies by A.C. Landsberg, with the valuable aid of Paul Rodocanachi.
