The Abbey of Praglia was founded in the years between the eleventh and twelfth centuries and lies at the foot of the Euganean Hills by the ancient road that led from Padua to Este. The community of  the Benedectine Monks who lives there counts 44 members whose day is made of work and prayer, as established by the Rule of St. Benedict.

The monastery currently houses the National Library, a veritable Italian monument of uncertain origins that has undergone various book cuts over the course of time, but remains an important laboratory where ancient books are restored
